God created us for intimacy. Gen 3:8, Dan 11:32. We do exploits by our knowledge of God. We can’t know God from afar, we only know him via intimacy. Gen 3:8 reveals that God comes down to fellowship with man. He does not fellowship with Angels because we are not in the same frequency. It is important to know that you can’t become your best outside of God. It’s the connection of man with God that brings the best of man. John 15:5
How To Maintain Intimacy with God:
1. Walk in the Spirit: You can’t experience God via any means but by your spirit. Rev 1:10, Apostle John enjoyed a journey with God in the spirit. God is a spirit and can only be felt or perceived with our spirit.
So, God expects us to walk in spirit or be spiritual so that you can be on the same page with him for intimacy. John 4:24, John 3:6, Gal 5:16-17
To know if you are in the flesh or in the spirit, your decision is important; because, you decide what is important to you. Wherever your mind is set on or whatever that rules your mind most is a determinant of whether you walk in flesh or spirit Rom. 8:5. Col 3:1-2. Intimacy with God is not possible, if you habitually yield to the dictates of flesh. The truth is that, there is no passion of the flesh you cannot tame. You can always overcome, by the Spirit of God. Phil 2:13, however, do not open the gates for temptation.
2. Daily Fellowshipping with the word: Closeness to the word is closeness to God. You can’t be intimate with the Lord, if you are not intimate with his word. God’s Word and God are inseparable. John 1:1-5. Your closeness to the word is a pointer to your closeness to God.
Every moment spent with God’s word is moment spent with God. God cannot do anything in this world without his Word. Therefore, to honor the Word of God is to honor God.
It is important to know that God reveal himself through his word. So to know God, you must get close to the word. 2Cor 3:18
When you make God’s word your priority, your Intimacy with God is Strengthened.
Unfortunately, the challenge with most people is that they are too used to being fed instead of sitting down to feed themselves by themselves in the word. So, instead of listening to the Men of God only, it is more profiting to listen to the God of Men. Do not be a feeding bottle.
3. Maintain an Atmosphere of Joy: It is the atmosphere of Joy that keeps God close. Psalm 68:4. Whatever has stolen your Joy has Stolen your God. Psalm 16:11, wherever there is fullness of Joy, there is fullness of God
