God does miracle as hobby, but much more than miracle, God wants a fellowship with him from you. James 4:8.
God has a package for the intimate, 1Cor 2:8 . However certain things usually stand as barrier to intimacy with God
What are the Barriers to Intimacy?
1. Pride of heart: Prov. 6:17, God hates pride with passion. You become abominable unto God when pride lurks in your heart, no matter how pious and anointed you are, if you are proud, you have no place with God
A humble sinner can receive mercy far ahead than a Spiritual proud person. Luke 18:10-14, Psalm 138:6, Be small in your own eyes, no matter how much God has lifted you. Wear the cloak of humility so as to be able to be intimate with God.
In Number 12:3,6-8, Moses by intimacy with God, got deep revelations from God of the creation when he was not in existence.
2. Sinful Lifestyle: Sin will always stand between man and God Isaiah 59:1-2. A lifestyle of Sin and intimacy with God cannot Mix. Hab 1:13
3. Failure in human relations: Matt 25:40, Matt 5:23-24, God is interested in how we deal with men. Your relationship with God is proved by your relationship with Men. Forgiveness is a necessary requirement you need if you want to have good human relationship and intimacy with God. Conflicts would always occur, but we must be able to resolve them.
How to resolve conflicts:
a. Go and resolve the issue instead of waiting. Go to the person and settle the matter.
b. Listen attentively: Hear what they have to say, not all you have to say is right, hear their hearts
c. Tell your own perspective: Focus on the issue, not on the person. Tell them how you feel, but avoid blaming them. Don’t be in a hurry to speak, no matter what is said about you
d. Sometimes Apologize, it doesn’t cost anything to apologize.
e. Pray for that person: when you pray, you have handed the situation to God.
4) Lack of Consistency: Intimacy with God demand consistency in pursuit. You can’t find God by seeking Him intermittently. Heb 13:8, God is consistent and so demands a consistent friendship with you.
Of a truth, friends who call you once in a while cannot be intimate you. So also can you not be intimate with God if you are not consistent with your walk with Him. You need to be definite in your consistency with God. Luke 11:3. We define how close we would be to God by the sacrifice we are willing to pay for intimacy.
