Love is the platform for authentic impact. God has given us a mandate to love as believers.
As a child of God, God called us to the religion of love. Matt 22:36-40, Rom. 5:5. It is impossible to claim to know God, without knowing love. 1 John 4:7-8
What is Love?
Bible love is not just feelings or emotions. Wordly love includes Phileo ( love between friends), Eros ( Sensual love between lovers) and Storge ( love between parent and child)
Bible love is called Agape love
Characteristics of Agape love:
- it is the highest form of love and it is pure).
- This kind of love is not selfish.
- It is a willful love: It is a choice and a love borne of out will
- Agape love is Sacrificial. 1Cor 13:1-13
Facts about Love:
1. Love is a command: infact, love is the only commandment of the new testament. John 13:34
2. Love is the proof of true Christianity: John 13:35, Acts 2:47.. If you aren’t demonstrating love one to another, you are not the disciples of Jesus.
3. Love is the soul of Faith: Gal 5:6,. the manifestation of faith is only possible when there was faith in the heart.
4. Love is the fulfilment of the law: Rom13:8-10, if you will walk in love, you would have fulfilled all the laws of God
