(Daniel 11: 32b);
You cannot know God without intimacy and you cannot know him from a distance. For instance, if you want to know a man, you need to get close to that person. You can’t get yourself acquainted with someone afar off.
In the same vein, don’t assume things about God, you cannot know God by what people tell you about God rather, you only know God by your experience with him. You will need to come close to God to discover God and know him by yourself, and God is making himself available to us on a daily basis so that we can discover him because God created us for intimacy.
In Genesis Chapter three verse Eight when God first created Man, we saw an experience of God with Man, Bible says, they heard the voice of God walking in the cool of the day. So God was always coming around. That is what God wants with us – intimacy.
God does not want us to relate with him at a distance. God is not as far as we think he is. God is closer than you can imagine. It is you who has not paid attention enough to be able to discover him.
WHAT ARE THE FRUITS OF INTIMACY WITH GOD?
1. Access to divine secrets:
Every organization has its trade secrets. People thrive in this life by secrets. Coca-Cola has its own formula that Pepsi hasn’t discovered and vice-versa. If you are going to stand out in life, you must be a man of secrets.
And our God is a God of secrets and those secrets have been prepared for us. God wants to put us at the front without effort. All he wants is to share with us his secrets.
For instance, the secrets of financial breakthrough, can’t be revealed to you just by hearing from the altar, you’ll need to listen for God to share them with you. If you understand the powerful secret behind giving and tithing, you will never, ever need to be motivated to give.
There are secrets of walking in dominion in life and God carries these secrets but only reveals them to those who are close to him. Deut. 29:29 tells us that Our God is a God of Secrets. There are secrets you need to know for your business to grow, you don’t have to do everything. There is just one thing God probably needs to show you to explode the business. All you need is access to it, and God is making it available by your closeness to him.
It is pertinent to emphasize that deep secret are only shared with close friends. You don’t reveal secrets to all your friends and associates. There is someone very close to you with who you share your deep secrets, so it is with God too. Amos 3:7
In Gen 18:17, God would not do anything without telling Abraham who is very intimate with him. Abraham was so close to God that he negotiated with God on God’s plan to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.
Abraham is not different from you. As a matter of fact, we have a better covenant sealed by the blood of the lamb (Jesus) while Abraham’s was sealed by the blood of bull and rams.
Job 29:4,6 revealed the secrets of Job’s abundance was his intimacy with God. Therefore, do not jump from pillar to post this year, Sit and discover God for yourself and it’s not too late to discover God, Abraham discovered him at 75 years but David discovered him at 17.
Your title and years of being a Christian is not a yardstick of your knowledge of God
Genesis 41:15 downwards shows to us how Joseph landed in the palace from prison by the secrets God showed to him. You don’t have to do what everybody is doing. Your superiority lies in your individuality
Daniel commanded exploits because of his intimacy with God. Daniel 2:19.
Jacob displayed extraordinary wisdom because of intimacy with God as God showed him the secrets to solve Laban’s difficult task. Gen 31:1-13
You don’t have to travail to succeed this year, it’s time to know God for yourself.
It’s time to desire intimacy.
2. Security of life and Destiny:
Those who are intimate with God, are always kept by him. They enjoy his company. Psalm 91:1 says he that dwelleth (intimacy) (not visited) in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
A time came that Saul gathered 3000 soldiers against David. He was just a young boy, of 21 or 22 years of age. In 1 Sam 24, the king found him in Engedi inside of a clay in a cave, but God covered Saul’s face so he couldn’t see David until in the morning when David revealed himself.
When you are intimate with God, he keeps you from your enemy.
The desire of God is for us to pant after him and desire him like David. Psalm 27:1-3.
If you pant after God, God will always watch over you. The battles of the intimate are fought by the Almighty God.
It’s time to desire intimacy.
3. Supernatural Liftings:
The presence of God is the atmosphere for uncommon lifting. Those who are close to God are never stagnant in life
You just keep scaling higher heights day after day in the face of challenges. Intimacy with God guarantees, progress without limit. You can’t be tucked into the most high and be most low.
Psalm 61: 1-2. Shows David’s dependence on God. Also in Psalm 75 and Psalm 3: 1-3 it elucidates further that when you are intimate with God you would always scale higher heights no matter your adversaries.
David was sought after among all his brothers by Samuel to be anointed the king of Israel. This is because of his intimacy with God
Psalm 84:7, every appearance before God, would always guarantee a lifting for you, those who know God would always advance.
In conclusion, Joseph said, I will not do this and sin against God. Daniel was also elevated in the land, all because of their intimacy with God; God will always lift up the intimate. He will always elevate the intimate.
It’s time to desire intimacy.
